On this warm sunny day we had 27 juniors turn up at Bournemouth Library to learn and enjoy an hour of chess. Welcome back Nirvan, who has come back after a few months break and already looks a more mature player. Also a warm welcome to our latest new member Amelie who passes the Steve test and needs moving up a notch. Always good to see girls joining the chess club, we hope you both enjoyed the session.

Tony entertained the first advance group with some challenging puzzles, whilst Paul showed the second advanced group his recent game against Spencer Elliot in the Cornish Open. Joey came up with some interesting ideas and tactics and deserves credit for this.

Steve, Azhar and Graham kept the beginners awake with various tactics in openings and end game situations. We are working to a learning program called “Chess Skills – Your Bucket List” which we have a dedicated page on this website. There are associated YouTube video links explaining in detail the topics listed, should anyone want a refresher / homework!!!! between Saturdays. Also, read, learn and digest these top tips:-

Game results and Ladder Positions

Good wins today for Tristan, Max, Nicholas, Harish, Jesse, Joey, Nivan, Pavina, Lewis and Eduard.

Credit to Nicolas our ‘puzzle king’ and who is also playing great chess this term, keep it up!

Knockout Competition

Hopefully next week we will continue with the Knockout tournament, some games from Round 1 still to play, but most games will be for round 2.
