Our last Saturday before the summer break attracted 19 youngsters to participate in a 6 round Swiss tournament split between advanced and intermediate players. Clocks set at 10 mins each.
In the advanced section a tie was decided between Zander and Finn as neither could force a win against each other. Both scored 5 1/2 out of 6 and a decider was played which ended in a draw.
Chasing them both was Joey who ended up with 4 out of 6.
In the intermediates, Jesse did very well with 5 out of 6, losing only to Yash in the first round, (obviously needed a warm up). Lathujan come a close second with 4 1/2 points.
All winners had cash prizes.
Everyone had points on the board and each player had a certificate to take home, so well done to all who took part and many thanks to the parents for sparing their time.
Prizes and certificates were also given to winners of the summer season Ladder competition, those winners were announced in last weeks news letter.
We will reconvene our lessons on Saturday September the 10th at the Elstead Hotel.
The Chess Club team hope you all have a great summer break and stay healthy and look forward to seeing you back in September.

Chess Skills
I have now listed our Chess Skills program on a separate page on the website, you will find it in the Menu bar under ‘Chess Skills – your Bucket List’
So far we have listed 20 skill levels which if you know them all you could have a grading of up to 1800 which is a very good average for a club player. This level would win you prizes and trophies in competitions.
